Canadian Bacon, My Custom GPT Tutor for the Basic Radio License, is Now Available!
I'm thrilled to announce that Canadian Bacon, my custom-built GPT tutor, is now available in the OpenAI GPT Store! If you're interested in earning your basic amateur radio license, this tool is here to help you every step of the way. Canadian Bacon is an interactive, friendly tutor designed to make learning easy and fun, and it's especially geared towards those who may be new to AI or aren't quite sure what a GPT can do.Initially developed in 2024, Canadian Bacon has been updated in 2025 to include the newly updated 1,000 Question testing database from ISED.
Canadian Bacon can answer questions, explain concepts, and guide you through the material to help you feel confident and prepared for the exam. If you are working through an online course or studying from a book, it can help elaborate on concepts you are strugging to understand or remember.
Whether you're just curious about the course material or getting ready to dive in to try a license test, I invite you to give it a try. Or you can ask it a random question about radio: in this example I asked (in the 'ask anything' dialogue box at the bottom of the screen) "I'd like to understand how space weather impacts radio propogation" and even with my typo I got some great information!
